The Marketing Management Congress took place at the Ambassador Hotel in the centre of Prague on a warm, summery day. The event was organised by the BlueEvents agency.

The designation “congress” in the name of this events is slightly misleading – the internationally-accepted definition of a “congress” is an event lasting for several days. This congress started in the morning and finished on the afternoon of the same day. Thus, there was no gala evening or accompanying programme in the congress schedule. The number of participants was around 200.

The programme was divided into several theme-based sections: 1. Marketing and New Customers, 2. New Tools of Marketing, 3. New Experiences in Marketing. George Silverman, one of the two foreign guest speakers at the congress and the US author of a book called The Secrets of Word-of-Mouth Marketing, was the main “vedette” of the event. Question time followed after lunch and consequently, some of the participants seemed half-asleep. David Spinar from H1 company also gave a well-received speach. Overall, the number of presentations wasn’t sufficient and quality information was also often lacking.

Let’s be honest, did any of you who attended the “congress” gain any new insights? As regards its organisation, everything was well-prepared as the agency who organised this evet is experienced in this field. Neverthless, the organisers should try to improve the quality of its professional programme in the future.
