  • The event, which will take place at the beginning of November, will be attended by travel managers from dozens of European countries.

  • The International Summit will analyze the impact that the actual sanitary emergency has had in corporative travelling, and also in the possible changes that would have occurred in this area and the foreseeable evolution they will have in the coming years.

  • Only in our country, according to the data obtained from the INE, in 2019, 16.1 million business trips were made by our nationalists, which generated 57 million of overnight stays and an expenditure of 6,697 million euros.

  • The work agenda also includes a social program in order to publicize the main attractions and points of interest of the province of Cordoba.

Cordoba will host the International Summit Travel Management, the first meeting organized by this specialized segment of corporate tourism after the global health crisis.

The Spanish Association of Business Travel Managers (AEGVE; Asociación Española de Gestores de Viajes de Empresa), as a reference entity in our country, is the promoter of this event, which will take place between November 3rd and 4th, at the Eurostars Palace Cordoba Hotel, and counts with the support of various both public and private entities, among which are Iberia, Renfe, Amadeus and the Eurostar Hotels Chain.

The event will be attended by representatives of a dozen European countries, including Germany, Austria, Finland, Italy, Norway, or Switzerland. The organization has invited the most outstanding members of this group and is expected to be attended by more than 150 professionals, who will discuss an agenda of diverse topics, with first-line speakers both national and international. Travel Managers can also request their free registration to the event, subject to accreditation by the organization.

The International Summit will analyze the health emergency’s impact on corporate travel, the possible changes that would have occurred in this area, and the foreseeable evolution they will have in the coming years, for which some of the best experts in this field will intervene.

Likewise, professional sessions have been scheduled in order to address the main issues that affect business travel professionals in their day to day, as well as to identify new business channels or resources for growth and improvement of the sector. The summit has also been proposed as a forum for the exchange of information and advice on issues of common interest. The work agenda also includes a social program to publicize the main point of interest of the province of Cordoba.

It should be kept on mind, in this regard, that only in our country, according to the INE data, in 2019 (as the last valid reference year), our nationals made 16.1 million trips with business purposes, which generated 57 million overnight stays and an expense of 6,697 million euros. The average expenditure per day of the corporate traveler was 117 euros last year, compared to 66 euros of the leisure traveler, which states a 43.6% more.

It is also relevant to highlight that travel managers are a key element in the internationalization process of Spain as a brand, and some of the professionals who will participate in this qualified event are in charge of managing parts of the displacement of the main companies of the Ibex-35, which represents large volume accounts.

A recent Deloitte report, conducted with U.S.A firms, places the full normality of corporate travel by the end of 2022, with records that in any case will reach 65-80% of 2019 levels.

Victor Rawinad claims, AEGVE’s CEO, “the International Summit Travel Management is a unique opportunity to participate in a meeting that will be framed as a reference for both national and international participants. For AEGVE, in addition, it means giving visibility to our entity as a support international organization, travel management information and training, capable of contributing as an association knowledge and improvements to the international sector and being a link between international associations for business travel professionals”.

  • Cordoba, a unique enclave for the business travel segment.

International Summit Travel Management’s celebration in Cordoba, the first meeting organized by this specialized segment after the pandemic, is a remarkable event for this territory.

Travel managers, within agencies, are responsible for the organization’s intermediation of the travel contracting, either to attend work meetings or to participate in the preparation of both congresses and events.

That is, they are the opinion prescribers in what is known as MICE tourism in the sector (meetings, incentives, congresses, and exhibitions, in English). This context is, precisely, one of the areas in which the city of Cordoba intends to enhance the most, as exposed in Fitur 2021.

In this way, Cordoba, and its province, in addition to its objective characteristics (communications, strategic location, climate, heritage values, cultural and leisure offer…), propose an unbeatable set of equipment and facilities, such as the Palacio de Congresos de Cordoba (Congresses’ Palace in Cordoba), or the Exhibition, Fair, and Convention Center, which are currently forward-moving on their second phase.
